Iowa Model A Day in Amana, iowa
The annual IMAD event held in Amana, Iowa, which is held on the third Saturday in August every year since 2009, is supported by the Hawk A Model A Ford Club out of Cedar Rapids. This is our chance to proudly display ours and our guests Model A Ford cars to the public, where they have a chance to learn about the history of these 90-some year old automobiles.
IMAD History
Iowa Model A Day (IMAD) began on August 22, 2009 modeled after the Rockford A’s Model A Day in Wisconsin. We chose to expand on their model which has proven to be a huge success. IMAD has been held yearly since then with the exception 2021,
Amana, the largest of the seven Amana villages was chosen due to its history and a streetscape which more closely resembles the Model A era.
We begin with a short tour on Friday followed by a welcome party for those arriving early.
The Grand Event is on Saturday: Model A (1928 - 1931) owners drive through registration with their vehicles, have a picture taken and then park for all to see. To expand the festivities of the day, we offer a morning Tech Session and a Ladies Tea, both held concurrently.
Those attending are also able to preorder an IMAD shirt, a new unique design each year which will be given to them on Saturday at registration.
We welcome all styles of Model A’s. If you own one and it runs, it is worth bringing to IMAD. We hope to attract examples of the many models of cars, pickups and trucks present at the time.
We welcome.all car owners, enthusiasts and those enjoying history to come, socialize, and learn more about this time in history and have a fun and interesting day with these old cars and trucks. The Amana colonies, an historical tourist destination, also offers a unique and interesting shopping and dining experience.
